GERTRUDE HERBERT INSTITUTE OF ART HOSTS 11th Annual Spring Artists' Market and Festival

The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art (GHIA) in Augusta, Georgia, is pleased to present its annual Spring Artists’ Market and Festival, March 10–17, 2017 at historic Ware’s Folly, located at 506 Telfair Street in downtown Augusta...A returning component of this year’s Market is the Artists’ Boutique, a gallery section featuring smaller works attractively priced at $100 or less—the perfect place to find an artful and affordable treasure. *For exhibiting artists...the deadline has been extended to Monday, February 27th. The Valdosta (GA) Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) invites sculptors to submit qualifications and proposals for an outdoor temporary exhibition. Three works will be selected by the committee for the exhibit. The works will be on loan for a period of 12 months, July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018. Sculptures will be exhibited in the City Center Arts District with the City’s permanent collection of public art works.

Each approved artist will receive a stipend of $1,500 for installation and loan of each piece for the year and agree to a 25% commission to the PAAC should the sculpture sell or be selected for the permanent collection. Work cannot be removed for any reason during the one-year period. The PAAC will assume the responsibility for reasonable care and upkeep for the period of the loan. GCA Teaching Artists Registry open for submissions

GCA is accepting applications for the Georgia Teaching Artists Registry. Qualified teaching artists must reside in Georgia, have training in their artistic field and experience working with students, and be able to pass a background check. The deadline is April 28. More submission information at



ART IN THE PARK presented by Columbia County Arts

Columbia County Arts, Inc. is hosting Art in the Park on Saturday, May 13 at the Columbia County Amphitheater and seeks artists and vendors. Accepting local and regional artists and artisans as well as food and beverage vendors. The festival will take place from 10 AM – 5 PM Saturday, May 14, at the Memorial Garden and Amphitheater adjacent to the Columbia County Library in Evans, GA. Springfest applications open, North Augusta Cultural Arts Council

The North Augusta 2017 SpringFest Art Competition is open to all visual artists. Submissions must be received between Wednesday, March 8 and Friday, March 10, 2017 anytime between 10 am and 4 pm.  Artists are invited to submit their original artworks. More information...



1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art application open Jan-May

The 1858 Prize for Contemporary Southern Art awards $10,000 to an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of art in the South. Presented annually, the prize recognizes the highest level of artistic achievement in any media. Artists from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia are eligible to apply. Art at the Chamber

The newest opportunity for local artists is a solo exhibition at the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce Gallery coordinated by the Greater Augusta Arts Council. Artists are chosen on a rotating basis by a committee that includes representatives of the Arts Council, the Chamber of Commerce, and the community. Art must be large scale, ideally 48" wide, and 5 works are exhibited per show. More information...
