JUROR BIO
Shai Perry is a black bi-racial woman, artist, mother, and curator. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from East Tennessee State University, where she studied sculpture and cultural anthropology. She is currently the Gallery Coordinator for Kansas City Kansas Community College, where she has the pleasure to advise student organizations, curate the Art Gallery, facilitate the campus collection, and manage artistic visions for public spaces. She is also working on a Master’s in Arts Management and Leadership at Wichita State University. Perry’s research in anthropology heavily influenced her career. There is a reoccurring theme of identity, cultural ancestry, race, and the questions that arise through the process. Perry believes that the process of creating work is just as important as the result.
