Arts Council Announces New Annual Award Celebrating Public Art, Annual Arts Award Nominations now open

The Greater Augusta Arts Council announced today that the Nomination Forms are now open for the 2018 Annual Arts Awards, which celebrate individuals and organizations that advance the arts in Augusta. The Arts Awards were established to recognize outstanding talent, exceptional initiative and leadership within Augusta’s vibrant arts community. In addition to the 6 awards currently distributed, the Arts Council is pleased to announce the addition of a new award: The Kath Girdler Engler Public Art Award.

FUSION on display now at newly renamed “City Gallery”

Artwork by 7 local artists is now on display in the gallery located inside the Augusta Richmond County Municipal Building in a group show named, “Fusion, A Celebration of Modalities.” Recently renamed “The City Gallery,” the gallery space at the Municipal Building hosts exhibitions programmed by the Greater Augusta Arts Council. The artwork featured in “Fusion” highlights several unique artistic mediums – paper-cutting, 3-dimensional clay on canvas, photography, and more. Local artist Nico Gozal curated the show, and selected the work to illustrate the variety of methods artists use to create art.
