Augusta Native Damien Sneed joins the staff of the Houston Grand Opera as Music Director, Composer in Residence

Via Broadwayworld.com – ” Multi-genre recording artist Damien Sneed, a Sphinx Medal of Excellence recipient, joins the acclaimed staff of the Houston Grand Opera.”

Sneed, a native of Augusta and graduate from Davidson Fine Arts High School, will act as the Opera’s new Music Director and Composer in Residence. He will compose new work for the Houston Grand Opera, work on new commission projects, and serve as the cover conductor under Patrick Summers, Artistic and Music Director.

Reception at the City Gallery – Augusta City Employees Art Exhibition, Friday, September 28

Join us Friday, September 28th at 11:30 am to 1:00pm for a reception for the artists whose work is currently on display at the Municipal Building.

The show features artwork by current City of Augusta Employees in a variety of mediums and styles. Refreshments will be provided, the reception is open to the public.

Featured Artists: Aleigha Brigham, Project Manager with the Tax Commissioners Office, Thurnell EL, Records Retention Specialist with Planning and Development, Angela Rice, a Paralegal with the Augusta Fire Department, Lea Rigdon, Administrative Assistant with the Augusta Fire Department, and Sandra Walther, Financial Analyst with the Finance Department.

Celebrate the “Best of Augusta” with Augusta Magazine & the Arts Council on Tuesday, October 9, 6-8pm at the Sacred Heart Cultural Center! This event features the restaurants and businesses voted the “Best of” Augusta by readers of Augusta Magazine, including Arts in the Heart of Augusta as Augusta’s favorite festival!
Come for food samples from winning restaurants, winning businesses and live entertainment from local musicians – for a good cause! Ticket proceeds raise funds for both the Sacred Heart Cultural Center and the Greater Augusta Arts Council.
