Kristine Rodriguez of Responsive Textiles Featured by Teen Vogue
Kristine Rodriguez, the Augusta-based knit artist behind Responsive Textiles, was recently featured by Teen Vogue in their video, “Cheap Vs. Expensive Sweaters – What’s Behind the Cost?”
In
the video, Rodriguez teaches Teen Vogue’s Sammie Scott about the
elements that go into knitwear, and explains the differences between
“fast fashion” garments and high-quality pieces that are handmade for
longevity and sustainability. So informative!

Art of Peace Deadline Extension – Art made out of gun components to raise awareness of gun violence
Artists are still being sought for “The Art of Peace,” an exhibition that features art made out of disabled gun components to raise awareness of gun safety. Artists receive the supplies from gun buyback programs and re-imagine the materials into works of art.
Future Successors and AmeriCorps VISTA’s have partnered with The Robby Poblete Foundation, based in Vallejo, Calif., and have successfully collected several firearms in a gun buyback program that will be available for artists to use in their submissions.

Georgia Council for the Arts’ FY20 Partner Grant guidelines online now, deadline February 6

The deadline for applications is February 6, 2019 at 11:59 PM.” The Georgia Council for the Arts has several grant programs – Project, Partner, Education, and Vibrant Communities, all with different requirements and criteria.
