Quickies Short Play Festival announces 2019 lineup, auditions
The annual Quickies Short Play Festival has announced its lineup of short plays for the 2019 event. Congratulations to these talented playwrights and directors! The plays, all by local Augusta playwrights, are all ten minutes or shorter and will be performed together the nights of April 12-13,18-20 at Le Chat Noir.The lineup is below.
We are looking forward to seeing these plays at one of Augusta’s most unique theatrical events! Auditions for roles in these plays will be held February 25 and are open to the public. Hosted at Le Chat Noir, Audition information on Facebook.

Art of Peace Reception & Documentary Screening highlights the importance of gun safety, February 8
On Friday, February 8 at 6:30 at the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, a reception for, The ‘Art of Peace,” will take place. A collaboration between AmeriCorps VISTA’s and Future Successors and sponsored by the Robby Poblete Foundation, The Art of Peace features artwork created by local artists out of repurposed gun parts. The original art on display features firearm remnants that were collected from 2018 Gun Buy-Back.
In addition, young adults from SafeHomes of Augusta will share both their spoken work and creative arts. The event will culminate in a panel discussion following the viewing of “The Blood is at the Doorstep,” a documentary film shown by Jessye Norman School of Art, NEA, South Arts and Westobou. The film follows the death and aftermath of a young man of color with schizophrenia that is shot and killed by officers from the Milwaukee Police Department.
This event is free to the public and light refreshments will be provided by Humanitree House as well as Something So Right Catering.

Volunteer at the Wet Paint Party & Sale, February 16, 2019
Help the Arts Council put on the biggest art auction of the year and attend one of Augusta’s favorite art parties by volunteering at this year’s Wet Paint! Several volunteer positions are open for assisting with the event, and allow for plenty of time to enjoy yourself! Bid on artwork from 90 local artists, enjoy food by Cucina 503, signature cocktails, music by DJ Codec, and fashion by Vintage Ooollee. Sign up with your friends or make new ones at the party!

Pubcrawl 2019, March 2 Volunteer signups open now
Support the arts in Augusta and volunteer for a great cause!
The annual Fat Saturday Pubcrawl returns to downtown Augusta on Saturday, March 2! Proceeds go to support the arts in Augusta. We are seeking volunteers to help stamp participant passports at the the bars & restaurants on the crawl route. Sign up with a friend, or make new ones as you have a great night! Volunteers receive a free t-shirt!

Submissions open for Gathered IV: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists, deadline March 18
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) is calling all Georgia artists for its 4th installment of the biennial exhibition Gathered IV: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists. Esteemed jurors Kevin Cole, Mario Petrirena, and Lisa Tuttle are committed to offering not only the breadth of talent across the state of Georgia, but also the depth. The exhibition has steadily evolved over the last thirteen years from its original incarnation: Within State Lines, which took place in 2006 and 2009, to Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists, 2013 and 2015, and finally, to Gathered: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists.
