Augusta native Jamal Moore provides backup vocals for Beyonce’s Lion King Single, “Spirit”
Jamal Moore, an alumni of Creative Impressions in Augusta, Georgia, has made his own impression alongside Beyoncé on her single, “Spirit” from the Lion King Soundtrack! Posting to his Facebook page, he commented on the experience – “God continues to blow my mind. So honored to be a part of this incredible project with Beyoncé. Go download and/or stream “Spirit” from her new album “The Lion King: The Gift” which drops July 19th. Thank you Derek Dixie for the opportunity to be a part of history with you again.”
The single is set to be released Friday, July 19, and will be available for download on all platforms. Moore also appeared in Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella performance, and recently returned to Augusta to perform a one-night show, “Christmas with Jamal Moore,” in December 2018.
During his stay, he joined our Executive Director Brenda Durant on her Arts Weekly Radio show to talk about his work.

Local Vocalist selected for BET singing contest, “Sunday Best”
Via Augustachronicle.com – “The third time was the charm for an Augusta-born singer who tried out for a TV gospel music singing competition.
This year, Tiffany Moore auditioned and was selected from candidates from across the world for “Sunday Best,” which airs on BET. She did not give up after going through the process in 2012 and 2014.”

6×6 & a Mix – Save the Date for July 30
Intriguing topics from local speakers and an informal mixer – must be 6×6!
The Arts Council is looking forward to the first of a new event series, called 6×6 + A Mix, where 6 interesting community members give quick, 6 minute presentations about their passions, and the arts community gets a chance to socialize.
The first of the series will be held at SharedSpace, 901 Greene Street, July 30, 5:30-7:30pm. Entry is $6 for current members of the Arts Council, $9 for non-members, paid at the door (cash, check or card)

Call for Art: Art of Georgia IV, Deadline August 27 for Augusta River Region counties
Via Georgia Council for the Arts: “The Office of the Governor in partnership with Georgia Council for the Arts is pleased to announce the first call of Governor Kemp’s Administration for The Art of Georgia IV: Imaging Home; Landscapes. Since 2012 Art of Georgia exhibits have displayed 354 works of art by 261 Georgia artists in the Office of the Governor at the State Capitol. With this new call, for the first time, the program has been expanded to include The Governor’s Mansion. Detailed submission guidelines for each exhibit follow.
