ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Lillie Morris
Georgia artist Lillie Morris works primarily in acrylic and mixed media collage to create abstract paintings. Her creative impulses are divided between her love of both mediums and she enjoys the diversity in her work that results. Her artwork is included in many private and corporate collections and has been shown in exhibitions throughout the southeast and in County Kerry Ireland.
Her love of nature informs her abstract work. Her memory of landscapes and waterways serve as the inspiration for her paintings, which often include rhythmic, gestural mark making. Her intense interest in Ireland has taken her there numerous times. Lillie has enjoyed three residencies at Cill Rialaig Artist Retreat near Ballingskelligs, Co. Kerry. (2006, 2009, 2018) and two residencies with Olive Stack Gallery in Listowel, Co. Kerry (2016, 2017). The deep influence of Ireland, its landscape and its traditional music can often be seen in her work.
In addition to her artwork, Lillie enjoys playing traditional Irish music. Her classical training on the violin, which began in her childhood, equipped her to embrace the Irish fiddling tradition when the music captured her heart in the late 1990’s.
Lillie and her husband Bill reside on a farm near Appling, GA. She is represented in Augusta by Art on Broad Gallery, The Frame Shoppe, Wesley Cadle Interiors and West End Collective.
Brian Rust
Brian Rust resides in Augusta GA and is best known as a sculptor and teacher at Augusta University. He creates sculptures out of wood and clay but also is a collage artist and works with digital photography. Brian was born in the Washington state and received a BFA from the University of Washington and an MFA from UC Berkeley. Brian is a full professor for the Department of Art and Design at AU and has taught there for 30 years.
Brian has exhibited his sculpture, installations, and collages in venues throughout the United States including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in Atlanta Ga, the Melvin Johnson Sculpture Garden at the Chautauqua Institution in NY, the South Carolina Botanical Garden in Clemson SC, the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia NY, and Georgetown University in Washington DC. On local level, Brian was chosen by Greater Augusta Arts Council in 2009 as the Individual Artist of the Year. Brian was recently commissioned to create a set of eight large outdoor photo-based sculptures in Lexington Ky as part of the Eco Art which was funded through the city of Lexington and Lexarts. Other recent activity includes a major reworking of an earthwork titled Natural Infinity Revisited in 2016 in Missouri at the Lay Center for Education and the Arts Sculpture Park.
Frank Delgado
Franklin Delgado, a native of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, lives and works in Augusta, Georgia. Delgado’s work is born from observation, engaged thinking and foundation, and?depicts the world based on meticulous observation of contemporary life and nature. His portraits present three-dimensional spaces and forms on a two-dimensional plane with precise detail. Delgado’s works are homages to love and the grandeur created with minute particles of matter both in life and art. The medium, graphite powder, is a ground material of the smallest size, filled with a tremendous capability to ignite. His works represent that fire. These are drawings of individuals who are made in the image of the divine, whom with love has gifted life.
He has received numerous grants and awards, and has exhibited domestically and internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art, GA, Manifest Gallery, Cincinnati, OH, Kai Lin Art Gallery, Atlanta, GA, Kalamazoo Art Institute, Kalamazoo, MI, S. Tucker Cooke Gallery, University of North Carolina-Asheville, Holland Area Art Council, Holland, MI, Mill Hill Gallery, Macon, GA, Aiken Center for the Arts, Aiken, SC, Collins Art Gallery, Grand Rapids Community College, Michigan; and more.
Ann deLorge
Born in Savannah, GA, Ann is a studio artist based now in Augusta, GA. Beginning her career in New Orleans, Ann’s work has been featured in the French Quarter Festival, the Monterey Blues Festival, the Westobou Festival, Verge Magazine and the book Multicultural New Orleans: An Historical Sketch by Jeremy DuQuesne Adams (2001). Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions around the country, including, the Little Rock Cultural Center, Persian Boy Gallery (New Orleans), Carmen’s Gallery (Maryland), the Louisiana Watercolor Society, the Abaco Art Festival (Bahamas), the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, and the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art. She is in the collections of the Marriott Corporation and the Jessye Norman School, among others. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Alabama. Hurricane Katrina carved out some changes in New Orleans and Ann’s life. She continues to paint jazz (with the influence of New Orleans pushing the colors and movement) along with different series like the trees she is now doing and commissions of all sorts that have always been part of her repertoire.
Lucy Hargrove Weigle
With a degree in Art from Auburn University as a start, Lucy has continued her pursuit of the love of painting and teaching as a career. She has established herself as an artist and leader in Augusta and the state of Georgia where she has worked to keep art an important part of community life. She has served on the Board of Trustees of the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, President and Signature member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, and Secretary and Signature Member of the Southern Watercolor Society. She is also Member of Excellence in the South Carolina Watercolor Society, the Atlanta Collage Society, Sacred Heart Cultural Center Guild, and Leadership Augusta.
Lucy has received numerous awards for her painting locally and nationally, is included in private and corporate collections internationally, and was honored by her community by receiving the Woman of Excellence Award for her contribution to the Arts. She has been voted Best Artist by readers of Augusta Magazine and Columbia County Magazine. In 2005, four of her paintings were featured in the movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman. The paintings were leased from Abstein Gallery in Atlanta, where the movie was filmed. And in 2006, five paintings were leased for the film, Who’s Your Caddy, filmed in Aiken, S.C. Her painting, Angel Triumphant, was featured on the cover of the Nov./Dec. 2002 issue of The Upper Room magazine. Lucy works in oil and in mixed media, often combining acrylic and collage to create texture and pattern.
