Local artist and Augustan, Staci Swider, has been accepted into the National Association of Women Artists. An incredible achievement that can’t go unnoticed or unacknowledged.

Staci began her art career as a textile designer in the home furnishings industry. Since then, her work has evolved into reinterpretations of the patterns and textures she works with, which can typically be found in function-driven objects such as quilts and baskets. She transforms these mediums into these dreamscape imageries “that straddle the line between figurative and abstract.”

Much of her works utilize the subject of personal exploration. The idea of one’s soul, traveling through time, and connecting with both past and present, as represented by a boat or vessel.

“As I create, I’m reminded that there is a long familial tradition of women who came before me, stitching and creating. From their whispers, I find the very foundations of my art.”

Not only is she now a juried member of the National Association of Women Artists but she is a Certified GOLDEN Artist Educator. She also has a book, Acrylic Expressions, and 4 instructional painting videos published by Random House that are available at major retailers and online at Amazon.

Staci has worked with the Arts Council as an educator with the Business of Being an Artist course held at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art. This program was supported in part by Georgia Council for the Arts, the Georgia General Assembly and The National Endowment for the Arts. Through her work, Staci has established herself as a role model for aspiring and established artists on what artists in Augusta are capable of.
