Family Area Street Performer App AITH 2023 | Due July 7th

Family Area Street Performer App AITH 2023 | Due July 7th

This year, the Greater Augusta Arts Council and the City of Augusta host the 41st annual Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival from Friday, Sept. 15 – Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023. This event will again be featuring the Family Area, which is an area of the festival dedicated to the arts education of our littlest arts patrons. Here, children and their families can experience the arts firsthand with activities, a Young Artist Market, Family Stage, arts installations, street performances, and more!

The Family Area Committee is now accepting applications for interactive, street-level performances in the Family Area, which will be on the 600 block of Broad St. This is separate from the Family Stage. We are seeking performers that are experienced with busking-style performance and crowd interaction.

Deadline to apply is by July 7, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.

The Greater Augusta Arts Council, the City of Augusta, nor any partners will be able to provide any performance related items such as speakers, microphones (anything to play sound on), dance floor, lighting, etc. Please plan to come prepared with your own tools for your performance.

Please be advised, if you are selected as a Street Performer, you and members of your group may be subject to any necessary background checks. The safety of the children and families who are patrons and participants of this amazing annual event are paramount.

Any performers who require a fee, if selected, should plan to provide/fill-out a W9. All performers will be required to sign a performer agreement.

All participating volunteer/un-paid Street Performers will be provided a wrist band via mail or pick up from the Arts Council office prior to the festival to be used to gain entry all weekend. Any individual or group performers who are selected that require a fee or are tipped will be provided a day-pass wrist band for the day(s) of their performance. If attending festival outside of their performance, they should plan to buy a badge for later festival entry. Example: Your paid character group is booked for Friday evening. Each performing member of your group will get a day pass for Friday. If you wish to come back as a patron on Saturday or Sunday, you will need to buy badges at the gate day of, or pre-sale badges online or at designated locations in Augusta.
