WWII Traveling Exhibit to be shown at Augusta Jewish Museum
AUGUSTA, GA June 12, 2023
Starting Friday June 23, the public is invited to visit Augusta Jewish Museum at
525 Telfair Street in downtown Augusta to learn about how WWII changed the
world. The AJM Education Center, in the one story former 1860 historic Court of
Ordinary near the Municipal Building, will be open each Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday from Noon to 3 pm until August 11. An opening program will take place
on June 18 (registration almost full) by KSU exhibit curator, Adina Langer.
Another event is planned for July 16. There is no charge for admission.
From the “WWII: the War that Changed the World” exhibit, attendees will learn
about people’s struggle to survive conditions in the US and in Europe
throughout WWII, and encounter stories of individuals who experienced the
effects of the war and the Holocaust. AJM has partnered with KSU to bring the
traveling exhibit, curated by Kennesaw State University’s Museum of History
and Holocaust Education, that will educate about the global impact of World
War II. This display is made possible by a 2018 grant from the Breman
Foundation based in Atlanta.
AJM has four pillars of education including Remembering the Holocaust. This
display, with gallery guides, will explore the war and its significant global
impact. AJM condemns hatred in any form and periodically holds programs
about bigotry, racism, and intolerance.
The Augusta Jewish Museum and its programming chronicle the life, history,
and contributions of the Jewish community in the Central Savannah River
Region. The museum also educates about Jewish traditions, Remembering the
Holocaust, and Israel-the land and its people. AJM’s website is
