Job Description

ABOUT
The Augusta Symphony seeks a talented young conductor to closely work with the
Music Director and any guest conductors. Assistant Conductor will serve as cover
conductor for all classical and pops performances and may conduct educational or
family concerts as assigned.

Assistant Conductor shall receive per-service compensation as well as mentorship and
tutelage through Music Director.

This is a one-year position with the possibility of a one-year extension. Candidates must
be eligible for employment in the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. COVER CONDUCTOR: Be present at and fully prepared to conduct rehearsals
and concerts, in case of Music Director’s absence
2. CONDUCT: Conduct off-stage music as required. May be assigned to conduct
educational and/or family concerts
3. OTHER:
• Assist with multimedia performances and recordings. Create video cues for
streaming purposes and “call” the performance
• Assist with programming (including pops), if necessary
• Be present and involved in Augusta Symphony’s fundraisers and social
events

REQUIREMENTS
• Three to five years of professional or collegial conducting experience
• Broad knowledge of the orchestral repertoire
• Knowledge of the Pops repertoire and willingness to research and learn
• Degree in Orchestral Conducting or meaningful conducting experience

COMPENSATION
Position is compensated on a per service basis with a maximum annual salary of
$10,000.
