Event Description:

Join other movie enthusiasts to enjoy the lost art of silent movies in the magnificent Sacred Heart Great Hall! This year’s featured film is the 1923 comedy, Our Hospitality. It is full of daring action, including the truly unbelievable, waterfall rescue scenes with Buster Keaton doing his own stunts and risking his life in the process. This movie will have the audience on the edge of their seats! The story will come alive with the soundtrack performed by acclaimed theater organist, Ron Carter.

Ron is celebrating 21 years of making silent movie magic at Sacred Heart through the annual Silent Movie Night. He performs at theaters throughout the southeast. Sacred Heart is honored to have Ron join us once again!

Silent Movie Matinee

Event Description:

Sacred Heart will host a Silent Movie Matinee experience for all ages on Friday, September 13, from 10-11:30 am. Doors to Sacred Heart’s beautiful Great Hall open at 9:30 am; the program begins at 10:00 am and will last about 80 minutes. The matinee will feature three short comedies with introductions by Ron Carter, a sought-after theater organist. Ron makes each movie come to life by playing an organ soundtrack to each short film.

Guests will be introduced to the lost art form of silent movies and to the genius of silent movie-era movie stars in short films: One Week and The High Sign starring Buster Keaton and Billy Blazes starring Harold Lloyd.

Don’t miss this unique educational and entertaining event! Your students will be amazed how far movie technology has come in 100 years!

Matinee Cost:  $2, children (up to 18); $5, adults
For student groups:  One free chaperone per 10 children.
