About the Show: Built in Augusta is a community-driven exhibition celebrating the structures that shape our city and the stories they hold. From historic landmarks and neighborhood homes to storefronts, bridges, and overlooked corners, this open call invites artists to explore Augusta’s architectural environment as both subject and inspiration. How do the spaces we move through every day reflect our history, culture, and sense of place?

Working in any medium, artists are encouraged to interpret local architecture broadly; capturing not just physical forms, but the memories, people, and experiences tied to them. Interior and exterior views are welcome. Whether highlighting iconic sites or hidden gems, “Built in Augusta” aims to showcase the character, diversity, and evolving identity of our city through the eyes of its local creative community.

This showcase will be featured in the City Gallery, which is in the lobby of the Augusta Richmond County Municipal Building and will be on display from April 23 – July 16 with a evening reception on Friday, June 12th from 5-7:00 p.m.

Deadline to submit is Friday, April 10, 2026 by 11:59 p.m.

Artists may submit up to 4 works for consideration. There are no fees to submit.

All selected artworks will be due to the gallery on installation day, Thursday, April 23rd between 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Due to the sheer volume of work included in this showcase, early drop off will not be available. If an artist is unable to drop off to the gallery on install day, they should plan to have a trusted friend or family member deliver their work.

The Greater Augusta Arts Council, along with Gallery Director Heather Dunaway, curates this visual art gallery in partnership with the City of Augusta. They do so with a goal to support local artists by showcasing their artworks in a high traffic location for locals, city officials, and visitors alike to better understand the vibrant arts we have in Augusta’s River Region.

Submissions can be new or older works. Works MUST include architectural elements. We encourage artists to submit pieces of all 2D mediums. If 3D, work will need to be wall hangable or fit within a 12’x12′ square. Only a select few 3D works can fit within this gallery space.
