21 May OPEN CALL FOR ART – “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” in the City Gallery
Thank you for your interest in showing artwork in “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.”
About the Show: Reduse, Reuse, Recycle invites CSRA-based artists to explore the intersection of creativity and sustainability through artwork created with up-cycled and repurposed materials. From discarded plastics and reclaimed wood to salvaged textiles, paper, and found objects, this exhibition celebrates the transformative power of art to give new life to materials that might otherwise end up as waste.
This open call seeks work that not only demonstrates innovation in the use of recycled or repurposed materials, but also encourages conversation about conservation and our collective responsibility to protect the environment. Through sculpture, painting, mixed media, and beyond, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” highlights how artists can inspire change, reduce environmental impact, and reimagine what is possible through sustainable creative practices.
This showcase will be featured in the City Gallery, which is in the lobby of the Augusta Richmond County Municipal Building and will be on display from July 17 – October 7, 2026 with a evening reception on Friday, August 14th from 5-7:00 p.m.
Deadline to submit is Friday, June 26, 2026 by 11:59 p.m.
Artists may submit up to 4 works for consideration. There are no fees to submit.
All selected artworks will be due to the gallery on installation day, Thursday, July 16th between 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Due to the volume of work included in this showcase, early drop off will not be available. If an artist is unable to drop off to the gallery on install day, they should plan to have a trusted friend or family member deliver their work.
The Greater Augusta Arts Council, along with Gallery Director Heather Dunaway, curates this visual art gallery in partnership with the City of Augusta. They do so with a goal to support local artists by showcasing their artworks in a high traffic location for locals, city officials, and visitors alike to better understand the vibrant arts we have in Augusta’s River Region.
Submissions can be new or older works. Works MUST be made with recycled materials or have themes of the importance of environmental conservation and waste minimization. We encourage artists to submit pieces of all 2D mediums. If 3D, work will need to be wall hangable or fit within a 12’x12′ square. Only a select few 3D works can fit within this gallery space.

1. Artworks must be family friendly. Works may not feature nudity or violence of any kind.
2. Artworks must be made by the Artist submitting.
3. Artists must live in Augusta’s River Region.

Please visit our gallery page at www.augustaarts.com/galleries for more info. 3D works must either be wall hangable from this system (under 25 lbs please) or fit within a 12″ x 12″ square.

Works that are not compatible with the Walker System will not be hung in this showcase. All works must be labeled on the back with artist’s and artwork’s information.
7. Please keep in mind, the gallery’s commission is 70% / artist, 30% / gallery. Pricing provided should reflect this. There will also be a State Sales Tax of 8% added for each sale. This commission helps to cover the cost of organizing, hosting and promoting the exhibition.
All gallery sales will be processed through the Greater Augusta Arts Council. Checks for all sales will be mailed to the address of each artist (provided on their W9), or direct deposited into artist’s choice account through our system (optional).
Works will also be featured on the Arts Council website and sold online. Any unsold artworks will need to be picked up by the artist or a representative of the artist in the week following the close of the exhibition. Any works left behind, after a 60 day period, per our contract, will be considered abandoned.
Space is limited! Each artist will be able to submit up to four works per application to be featured. This does not guarantee that all works will selected. This depends on the amount of wall space, submissions, and general feel for the show. We encourage all artists interested in showing to visit the City Gallery.
Artists who have artworks selected to be featured in this exhibition must plan to fill out a W9 form, sign a Gallery Contract and provide verification of their inventory of artworks.
