Arts Council to host Wet Paint Party + Sale February 18

Every February, the Greater Augusta Arts Council hosts an event for artists and its members- the Wet Paint Party + Sale. Part party, part auction, both temporary art gallery and vintage fashion show, the Wet Paint Party + Sale brings Augusta together to celebrate artists, fashion, and fun.

This year?s Wet Paint Party + Sale will be a blast back in time, to one hot era- 60?s & 70?s Soul & Funk.To really nail the music of the era and funk culture, we?ve called in a special guest to DJ – ?Coco Rubio, owner of the Soul Bar & Sky City. ?He?s sure to bring in some of his own favorite musicians of the era – James Brown, Sharon Jones, and more. We can?t wait to hear what he?ll spin up!

The soundtrack of the night will spice up the viewing of one of Augusta?s largest, albeit temporary, art galleries. Last year, over 50 artists submitted work for sale in the silent auction, one of the largest showings of local art to be seen in one place here in Augusta, Georgia. Attendees can see art from a vast range of artists, all set in the stunning backdrop of Sacred Heart Cultural Center?s Great Hall. Painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and more are all represented each year at Wet Paint. It?s a perfect chance to meet artists and other art lovers. Join us February 18, 2017, 7pm-10pm at the Wet Paint Party + Sale, and find the first, best, newest piece of art for your collection!
The Wet Paint Party has a unique system as far as benefit art auctions go, which keeps both artists and buyers coming back year after year. Any artist who is a member of the Arts Council can submit a piece of work into the auction, and they all set their own base price for their piece of work. When a buyer makes a bid on a piece, that base price is the starting bid. At the end of the night, artists whose work has sold will receive 100% of that base price. The balance between the base price and the winning bid is the only portion of the proceeds that goes to the Arts Council, which goes right into our supporting our other events & programs. Applications for artists to submit a piece of work to this year?s Wet Paint Party and Sale are open now at www.augustaarts.com, so check it out!
