Art Adventures: Staci Swider Show at the Gertrude Herbert and More
Staci invited my husband Ed and me to see her show at the Gertrude so late one Sunday afternoon, we masked up and took a tour, with the artist as our guide. Something you should know is I love Staci Swider. I LOVE her! I love her art. I love her Facebook posts.
I love that she taught our “Business of Being an Artist“ class last year. I love the collaborative work she did a few years ago for the Westobou show. I love how she incorporates such strong design elements into her work. I love her quirky creatures. And I love her clear voice in this show, “Connection”. Her paintings and collage work have an incredible tactile sense. The urge to touch them is over-whelming. Of course, I restrain myself. Barely. Do yourself a huge favor and call to make an appointment to see them yourself.

A Monday Art Walk became a part of our Art Adventure, and after we visited the 1100 Block downtown, we checked in on the James Brown Mural at 9th and Broad. It is almost complete and is SO stunning. Photos don’t do it justice.
I saw there was chalk art in front of the Westobou Gallery. It was still there on my last check and should last until the next rain – take a walk downtown and check it out. Walking back to the car, Ed and I found a love note from Porkchop. In a word: Perfect.
I love this town.
