VISUAL ARTISTS: Applications are open now for the 2019 Arts in the Heart of Augusta Fine Arts and Crafts Market! Apply to participate in a Sunshine Artist’s top-60 rated event, right in the heart of downtown Augusta! This year’s Arts in the Heart of Augusta will take place September 20-22. The applications for the Fine Arts and Crafts Market will close May 10.

Children’s Book with Illustrations by Augusta Artist Sala Adenike published!

Augusta-based artist Sala Adenike’s illustrations give life to a recently-published children’s book by Tacardra B. Rountree titled, “Hello Queen,” available now on Amazon, at Books-a-Million and Barnes and Noblem! A description of the book – “Hello Queen is a poetic portrayal of what a Queen represents – beauty, intelligence, determination and more. It is an affirmation and reminder that there is a Queen in each of us regardless of your age or profession. Open Walls Artist Mixer Thursday, March 14, 5-7pm

On Thursday, March 14, 5-7pm the Arts Council will host a drop-in reception for artists to get a look at the new Augusta and Company gallery, the newest gallery opportunity for artists programmed by the Greater Augusta Arts Council. Located in the soon-to-open Augusta and Company Gift shop, part of the new Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau office at 1010 Broad St., the gallery will feature a rotating display of local artwork for sale.

Artists are invited to see the space still under construction to envision possible events, popup gallery shows, receptions and performances in this unique location. Refreshments will be served.

Submissions open for Gathered IV: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists, deadline March 18

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) is calling all Georgia artists for its 4th installment of the biennial exhibition Gathered IV: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists. Esteemed jurors Kevin Cole, Mario Petrirena, and Lisa Tuttle are committed to offering not only the breadth of talent across the state of Georgia, but also the depth.  The exhibition has steadily evolved over the last thirteen years from its original incarnation: Within State Lines, which took place in 2006 and 2009, to Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists, 2013 and 2015, and finally, to Gathered: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists.
