Best of Augusta Celebration tonight 6-8pm, Arts Council members get a 50% discount!

Come enjoy samples from restaurants and entertainment by winners of Augusta’s Best – tonight at Sacred Heart Cultural Center, 6-8pm!

Businesses voted by readers of Augusta Magazine will be featured, with plenty of free giveaways to attendees.  Ticket proceeds raise funds for both the Sacred Heart Cultural Center and the Greater Augusta Arts Council.

Current members of the Arts Council can still purchase tickets for $10 (regular $20).  To purchase discounted tickets, call the Sacred Heart offices at 706-826-4700. Sales continue until 5pm.

Augusta Photo Festival exhibit now on display at City Gallery

A new display at the City Gallery features work chosen by the Augusta Photography Festival to highlight the work of volunteer staff, committee members, competition winners and workshop participants of their festival. The region’s biennial celebration of the art, craft, and joy of photography, the Photo Festival celebrates its first 10 years with internationally recognized speakers, an array of classes, workshops and gallery shows throughout the CSRA October 19 through 28, 2018
The City Gallery is located in the Augusta Richmond County Municipal Building at 535 Telfair St. The hours are 8:30-5pm, Monday-Friday.

City of Augusta publishes RFQ seeking artists for sculptures

PUBLIC ART NEWS: “The City of Augusta is accepting qualifications with the intent to contract with an artist(s) for a gateway sculpture. The purpose of the request for qualifications is to evaluate a professional artist(s) ability to perform the design, construction and installation of the first Gateway Sculpture.

The selected artist or artist team will work with the Augusta Recreation & Parks Department and the Public Art Advisory Panel to further develop and finalize their proposed concept.

Save the Date for this year’s Legislative Luncheon, November 8!

This year’s Legislative Luncheon, hosted by the Greater Augusta Arts Council, will be held Thursday, November 8, 11:30-1pm.

Attended by local and state legislators and leaders of Augusta’s vibrant arts community, discussions are held on economic development, upcoming plans for the future and public art.
This year’s speakers will feature an update on Public Art in the CSRA, since the implementation of the City’s Public Art Master Plan, and look to what is coming to the area in the upcoming years.
