Symphony Orchestra Augusta reveals new branding and a return to Augusta Symphony name
At a press conference held yesterday in the arcade of the Miller Theater, The Symphony Orchestra Augusta revealed a new brand, logo, and a return to their former name of Augusta Symphony. The new branding, designed by marketing firm Weir Stewart, references a treble clef and the scroll of a stringed instrument. “The timing is right,” said Executive Director Anne Catherine Murray, “As we ride the wave of the excitement that the Miller has stirred in our community.” READ MORE ON AUGUSTASYMPHONY.COM

Miller Theater Recognized by Billboard Magazine as one of the “20 Freshest Venues to Watch in 2018”
Hats off to the Miller Theater for recognition in Billboard Magazine’s list of the 20 freshest venues in 2018! This list, made up of newly built or renovated theaters across the US, has everything from major arenas to more niche venues.

Ellis and Ann Johnson receive George and Dorothy Walton Award for community service, support for the arts
Longtime supporters of the arts, Ellis and Ann Johnson, were the most recent recipients of the George and Dorothy Walton Award, given to couples in the Augusta community who dedicate their lives to volunteering. For their outstanding service to the arts as well as their mentorship of young people in our community, the Johnsons were given the award in a ceremony last Thursday. In an interview with the Augusta Chronicle, Ellis Johnson, who is a former president of the Greater Augusta Arts Council, said, “The success of all of our involvement and activity has been because of the people who supported us.” We can’t think of a better couple than Mr. and Mrs. Johnson to receive this award! Since the Arts Council started the petition to show our community’s support for the Signal Corps Band at Fort Gordon, almost 500 people have signed. We believe the Band is an important part of the Augusta Arts community and we will share the results of the petition with our lawmaker and city leaders.

Submit Exhibition Proposals for the Municipal Building Gallery
The Greater Augusta Arts Council has opened proposals for the Municipal Building Gallery for the 2018 and 2019 calendar year. Do you have a concept for a solo show, group exhibition, historic display or other type of exhibition you would like to show in the gallery space at 535 Telfair St.? Submit your proposal to the Greater Augusta Arts Council. A committee made up of artists, city representatives and community members will review the submissions for scheduling. LEARN MORE.
