Did you know? Public art is all around us in Augusta, making our city a vibrant and colorful place to live and visit. Whether you’re a long-time resident or a newcomer, there’s always something new and exciting to discover in Augusta’s thriving public art scene.

Looking for a great family outing? Bring your children out to celebrate all things public art! Our current sculpture trail is in its final months before the call goes out for NEW sculptures to grace our city. It’s the perfect time to take a moment and explore the sculpture trail downtown.

One of the exciting new installations is happening at the Augusta University Cyber Center downtown. The piece, titled “Circuit Tree,” is the work of artist Kirk Seese. We hope this will soon evolve into a full-fledged sculpture garden, a serene and inspiring spot for everyone to enjoy.

If you love murals, you’re in luck! Augusta is home to a stunning array of murals, from the vibrant new 5th Street Murals to the iconic James Brown Mural. Just take a walk downtown to experience the magic for yourself. Every corner you turn, you’ll find art that tells the story of our city and its people.

Downtown IS ART! But the creativity doesn’t stop there. Coming soon is the new Gateway Sculpture at Sandbar Ferry Road, two new sculptures at Phinizy Nature Park, and another at the Lock and Dam Berm. There’s so much more to see and explore.

Several Richmond County Schools are home to storm drain murals, adding colorful and educational art to our streets. You’ll also find painted traffic boxes all over Augusta and painted pianos in special places—and YES, you can play them! These interactive pieces bring a touch of joy and creativity to everyday life.

Be sure to check out the marvelous Crosswalk Mural at Telfair and East Boundary. This vibrant piece adds a splash of color to your walk and is a must-see for any art lover.

If you want to PAINT the town or maybe just contribute to a social canvas, log on to the Greater Augusta Arts Council’s website and book a Promenade & Paint for an Authentic Augusta Experience. You’ll get to explore a curated selection of public art in downtown Augusta, GA and work collaboratively on an art masterpiece at Humanitree House while sipping refreshing cold-pressed juice.
