going…going…gone Gallery Opening Reception | Aiken Center For the Arts

Opening Reception: Thurs, February 4 from 6-8pm
Join us for the opening reception of “going…going…gone,” an exhibition supporting wildlife conservation and education through art. Three artists unified by a passion for nature and wildlife conservation: Robert Campbell, artist and designer for conservation organizations worldwide; Camryn Finnan, photographer and dog trainer for anti-poaching efforts and illegal wildlife trade in South Africa and Whitney Kurlan, wildlife conservation artist specializing in endangered species.
Robert and Whitney will be painting live from Camryn’s photographs. Come and join us in celebrating the work of these three artists, experience the creative process in action, and be inspired.
This event is free and open to the public!

The Augusta Sculpture Trail Ribbon Cutting! – Feb 6 | 1 – 3 PM
Join the City of Augusta and The Greater Augusta Arts Council on February 6th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM for the official Augusta Sculpture Trail Ribbon Cutting on The Augusta Common at Reynolds Street!
Speakers include Mayor Hardie Davis; Bennish Brown with the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau; Commissioner Sean Frampton; Brenda Durant, Executive Director of the Greater Augusta Arts Council; Margaret Woodard, Downtown Development Authority; and Emcee Jay Markwalter from the Georgia Convention and Visitors Bureau. A special Otocast Augusta Sculpture Trail mobile App activity will be unveiled, where participants can earn a unique badge for visiting all 10 sculptures on the Trail. Music will be provided by Karen Gordon, and live painting by local artist Billy S.

KILLER BEAZ presents an evening of Clean Comedy starring Killer Beaz, Moody Molavi & Andy Forrester
Killer Beaz is currently starring in his fourth season of the Discovery Channel’s hit series, “Moonshiners”, touring the country, and performing on the high seas. Beaz has just released his new DVD and Download Video, “There’s That!”, and is about to release an upcoming video series of clean comedy, “Killer Beaz PRESENTS” featuring the standup of Beaz and outstanding comics handpicked from all over the country, and he just recently performed again at the historic Ryman Auditorium, this time for The Grand OLE Opry.
With many thousands of radio, television and stage appearances, Beaz has been entertaining audiences for over three decades. He is an award winning artist, and has been signed with both Sony and Warner Brothers Records.

Do you have thousands of digital photos? Learn to create fantastic scrapbook pages that can be displayed on your computer, television or in a slideshow that you can share. Digital pages can be printed to create an album. You will need a laptop, Photoshop Elements (free trial available at adobe.com) and digital photos to work with. Harvard Art Museums Tour: “Intimacy in Art” – Feb 5 | 12 – 1 PM | FREE
Join the Harvard Art Museums and the Harvard Ed Portal for a virtual, interactive museum tour series this winter! Throughout December, January, and February, Harvard undergraduate tour guides will lead fun, engaging tours of the Harvard Art Museums’ collections.
Maeve Miller ’22 explores forms of intimacy across the history of art and the tensions between them by looking closely at Summer Scene (1869-1870) by the French painter Jean Frédéric Bazille; Prince Sh?toku at Age Two, a sculpture from 13th-century Japan, and The Vanity of the Artist’s Dream (1830) by the American painter Charles Bird King.

Get ready for Women’s History Month with the National Portrait Gallery! Join us for a professional development workshop that utilizes creative writing to explore the lives of groundbreaking women who have helped shape our nation’s history and culture. In this interactive workshop, we will discuss strategies for teaching students about the lives and literary work of the legendary writers featured in Her Story: A Century of Women Writers. The workshop will include looking closely at portraiture, reading and discussing literary texts, and developing creative writing in response to the exhibition.
This workshop is intended for classroom teachers. The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants 24- 48 hours in advance of the program. The email will come from Eventbrite. Join us for a Stop Motion Zoom workshop with award winning filmmaker, Sofia Garza-Barba!
To start the New Year of in a positive light, we are doing a Animating your Way in 2021 Promo, which grants everyone free access to this workshop!
In this workshop, Sofia will teach you how stop motion brings things to life! You’ll learn the basics of stop motion animation and its origins. Participants will have a chance to view a few classic stop motion film scenes and see some of Sofia’s own work. Then, you’ll brainstorm, create a moodboard and storyboard, and then work collaboratively to create a mini stop motion film! No prior knowledge of stop motion required. Join Girls IN Focus for a fun, immersive, and educational experience.
We will be animating our names and flying objects via zoom!
