Can You Make Hair for Me? A Virtual Exhibit

Exhibition Dates: October 8, 2020 – February 1, 2021
Opening Reception & Artist Talk: Oct 9 | 7 – 8:30 PM

“Can you make hair for me?” is a collaborative photographic art project by artist and Lesley graduate student Eileen Powers (MFA Visual Arts) with a goal to bring joy and levity to those undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.

After finding out she had cancer, Powers looked to her artwork as a way of helping others. “I decided to create this this project, ‘can you make hair for me?’, and invite artists, friends and supporters to find ways to make hair for me that I could then photograph and share. The goal is to show that loss is real, but our ingenuity in dealing with loss is what makes us stronger, more compassionate humans.”

In this collaborative virtual exhibit, hair and headpieces created by Expressive Arts Therapy Lesley graduate students for Powers are exhibited alongside her photographs. Please join us for the virtual Opening Reception and Artist’s Talk on October 9th at 7pm through Zoom. Register to receive the Zoom Link and further details.

Literary Happy Hour: Book Poster Cocktail Party – Oct 14 | 7 – 9 PM | $0 – $3

Cocktail Making Party + Book Posters Talk!

Our Posters & Cocktails parties keep getting rave reviews, so we’ve added two more to our 2020 calendar! As the air turns a bit brisk, why not snuggle up with us for an evening of books and booze?

Our Chief Curator will once again be hosting Nicholas Lowry of Swann Auction Galleries and Don Spiro of The Green Fairy Society over Zoom as they take us on a well-lubricated literary journey.

After making an initial cocktail to get us going, grab your favorite throw blanket while Nicholas talks about the history of books in posters. As our glasses empty, Don will teach us how to make the signature cocktails of some of history’s greatest authors (and maybe even a few beloved by infamous literary characters).
