Put That In Your Shoulder Pads!
The Word with Heather René Dunaway

Why, hello art friends. It’s me, Heather; shoulder pad enthusiast and local artist. What’s the word around the Augusta River Region’s art scene? Well, not to toot my own horn, but I am pretty excited about
Treasure Inland.

As the new Gallery Director for the Greater Augusta Arts Council I have the pleasure of managing both the City Gallery and Augusta & Co. gallery spaces. Which means I get to put together some really fun and interesting shows for you all to participate in.

If you know me, you know I love a good theme. If you really know me, you know that as a kid I often made maps of my neighborhood to use in playtime for pirate treasure hunts. For Treasure Inland I’ve incorporated both! I want the work in this showcase to be about all the beautiful, magical and fantastical things in my hometown and its surrounding areas.

It will be a summer long adventure for folks to get out there and really explore. Think Pokemon Go, but better. The treasure they’ll be hunting? It’s an experience, not actual pirate booty.
I want to see proposals that lead to parks, murals, restaurants, bars, a beautiful view, anywhere the artist deems worthy. Works can be in any style or medium too! As long as a digital copy can be made for printing. So, if you’re a graphic or illustrative artist I encourage you to follow the link below and check out the details on how to submit.

But for now, put that in your shoulder pads!
