Maycie Moore is a 12-year-old artist from Aiken, SC. She got her start as a youth vendor at the Arts in the Heart of Augusta of Augusta during the record-breaking year of 2022. After selling out of merchandise by 3PM on their first day at the festival, Maycie and her parents were able to walk around and enjoy all that the event has to offer.
“I love Arts in the Heart because there are all different types of art: dance, visual, performance and of course, a lot of food. When we walked around after, a lot of the vendors asked about my artist badge and were very nice and encouraging.” –Maycie Moore
Since then, Maycie, under her business name MM Creations, has had her works featured in several local arts markets and has started a new business with her best friend, Emma Statkus. Crafting by Emma and Maycie has kicked off with beaded jewelry and crafts. Both Emma and Maycie plan to sell their wares at this year’s festival in the Young Artists Market.
Emma Statkus is excited to sell alongside her best friend and create unique and customizable clay bracelets for Young Artist Market’s patrons. She looks forward to meeting a lot of great new people and learning all she can about being an arts vendor. The duo have been working hard to get enough inventory for the weekend. Both girls want to encourage any young artists who may be on the fence about participating to join in on the fun, or at least attend to show support.
For now, both Maycie and Emma are enjoying creating their artwork and being kids. With encouragement and support from their parents, friends and family these two girls are set up for success. We are excited to see where their creativity takes them. You can follow their artistic journey on their Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/crafting_emandmay/ .
