Phinizy invites photographers to capture the natural beauty of the Phinizy Center for Water Sciences. Please review the contest guidelines and submit your entries accordingly.

Entry Requirements:

  • All photographs must be taken on-site at the Phinizy Center for Water Sciences.

  • Entries must be received by July 11, 2025, at 5 PM.

  • Registration opens April 30, 2025.

  • Registration forms must be completed online.

  • Submit your high-resolution photos (minimum 300 DPI) as JPEG files to phinizyphotography@gmail.com.

  • Each file should be named as: FirstName.LastName.PhotoTitle (no spaces).

  • Indicate the category for each photo upon submission.

  • Photos with watermarks or identifying marks will not be accepted. Judging is blind until complete.

Categories:

  1. Scenic – Natural or man-made scenic shots without added elements (e.g., no inserted wildlife).

  2. Wildlife – Photos featuring animals found at Phinizy, including birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, etc.

  3. People in Nature – Images featuring people aware of and consenting to being photographed at the park.

  4. Youth – For photographers under 18 years of age, capturing any Phinizy Center scenes or wildlife.

Participants may submit up to three photos per category.

Entry Fees:

  • $10.59 for the first photo entry.

  • $5.45 for each additional photo.

  • Payment can be made online by credit card (with fees) or by mailing a check with your entry form.

  • Payment must be received by the entry deadline.

People’s Choice Award:

  • All entries are automatically entered in this category.

  • Photos will be posted on Phinizy Center’s Facebook page for public voting.

  • Facebook users can vote multiple times by donating:

    • $5.45 = 2 votes

    • $10.59 = 5 votes

  • Donors must specify the photo name in the donation notes.

  • Donations for votes must be made by midnight on August 15, 2025.

Judging:

  • A panel of at least two professional photographers will judge entries based on creativity, originality, and technical skill.

  • Finalists will be notified by August 1, 2025.

Exhibition & Awards Reception:

  • The top 10 photos in each category will be printed (8” x 10”) and displayed in acrylic stands.

  • A reception for all contestants will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025.

  • Category winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the event.

  • 1st Place winners in Scenic, Wildlife, and People in Nature categories (plus one guest) will be invited to the exclusive Swamp Soiree (no children) and must RSVP by October 1, 2025.

  • The Grand Prize winner will be revealed at the Swamp Soiree.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place (each category including People’s Choice and Youth): $50 cash prize

  • 2nd Place (excluding People’s Choice and Youth): $25 Phinizy Gift Certificate

  • Grand Prize: $250 cash

  • Youth 1st Place winner will receive $25 cash and a Phinizy Center T-shirt, announced at the reception.
