ARTFIELDS LAUNCHES ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM

ARTFIELDS LAUNCHES ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM

ArtFields is thrilled to announce the launch of the ArtFields Artist in Residence Program, debuting as part of our 2026 programming! This new initiative expands our commitment to supporting Southern artists by offering dedicated time, space, and resources to create, experiment, and connect with the Lake City community. Through this program, ArtFields continues to build meaningful bridges between artists and the growing art scene of Lake City, South Carolina.
The artist in residence program has been in the works since 2022, when ArtFields’ strategic planning process uncovered the desire for more artists in Lake City and more ways to artists to engage throughout the year. Check out the ArtFields Vlog, now live on our brand new YouTube channel, to get a behind the scenes look at how it came together under the leadership of Program Director Jamison Mady Kerr.
Residency Tracks: The ArtFields Residency Program will begin with two tracks: project-based residencies and process-based residencies. ArtFields will provide access to studio space and accommodations to all selected artists during their residency term.

Project-based residencies will result in a culminating exhibition or public art project. Timelines and budgets for these residencies will be determined on a case-by-case basis to best fit the project. ArtFields will provide support for materials, transportation, and travel.

Process-based residencies will have no requirement of a finished product, we simply ask that selected artists travel to Lake City and dedicate their time and our spaces to developing their process as is most beneficial to their artistic career. Process-based residencies will range from 10-30 days and each selected artist will receive a materials stipend based on the length of their term.

Paid engagement opportunities are available to selected artists, but are not required.

Application Process: Residency applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and be reviewed each quarter by the ArtFields team. Artists who are seeking a project-based residency will also be required to participate in an interview with the selection team. Artists will be considered eligible for one year after initial submission, even if they are not selected for the first quarter.
