03 Feb Call for Artists: Traditions: Latin America and the Caribbean Art Show
VIA International Focus: Traditions link us with our past and give us something to hand down to future generations. Artists should submit work that reflects some tradition in their life. It might be a religious ritual, national holiday or event, family tradition, sports ritual, or organizational festivities. It may be shared experiences or perhaps traditions that don’t match your truth or realities. It can be new traditions that you have created within your family or community. It can be depicted via skills such as weaving, pottery, basketry, jewelry, etc. or by two dimensional work such as painting, photography, mixed media. Non-traditional approaches to your art are welcome.
Artists can submit up to 10 works. A maximum of 3 will be selected for the opening night show. The rest will be featured in our on-line catalog. This exhibition is open to artists 18 years of age and older residing in North America, Central America, South America or the Caribbean. All art will be accepted in this show as long as it complies with the criteria of the call. Artists will keep 100% of their sales, however, it is up to the artist to negotiate framing and/or shipping costs. There will be a virtual opening night on Thursday, February 25, 2020 at 7:00 pm EST that will feature interviews, short videos, music, dance performances and, of course, the artwork. Artists can submit a 90 second video about their work. Instructions on how to submit a video will be sent after the call expiration date.
