Call for Volunteer Fiber Artists for Arts in the Heart

The Greater Augusta Arts Council invites artists, community groups, schools, families, clubs, and scout troops to help transform the Family Area at the Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival through colorful fiber art installations. Now in its fourth year, the Family Area Yarn Art Installations celebrates creativity and collaboration. This year, the committee would like to expand the installations to include different forms of fiber arts. Participants are encouraged to create vibrant installations using yarn, fabric, ribbon, crochet, knitting, weaving, or other fiber-based techniques that will welcome thousands of festival guests into one of the festival’s most beloved spaces.

This year’s theme will be “Wild Water.”

By donating their time and talent to create something special for children and families to enjoy, participating artists will receive complimentary admission to the Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival all weekend long, plus an exclusive volunteer t-shirt. To help bring your vision to life, the Greater Augusta Arts Council also has a collection of free yarn and fabric available for artists to browse and use in their creations.

Whether you’re an experienced fiber artist or simply enjoy creating with your community, join us in wrapping the Family Area in splashes of color while helping make this year’s festival more magical than ever.

Installation will take place Wednesday September 16th – Thursday, September 18th, 2026 from 3PM – 6PM

Take down will take place Sunday, September 20th at 6:00 PM.

Each individual/group will be assigned a 5″x5″x9′ pole to decorate with their artwork. We have 14 total poles
