About us
Inspired by Pan-African civil rights leader Queen Mother Moore, our founders established Black Cultural Archives in 1981 with a mission to create Britain’s first museum dedicated to representing the culture on history of Black people in Britain. Today we are a national institution dedicated to collecting, preserving and marking the histories of Black people in Britain and their place in British history. Our collection of original archive materials constitutes a permanent record, and our ambition is to embed this presence into the broader British narrative and increase understanding of our diverse heritage.
This role is key to the ongoing resilience of BCA. We are seeking a Project Manager to run our National Lottery Heritage Fund project: ‘Securing the future of Black British History’.
In this role you will be a key member of the team helping to steer BCA through the uncertainties of the pandemic world into a secure future as a robust, innovative and flexible heritage organisation.
About you
Dynamic, friendly and creative, you will have proven experience of working in the cultural sector – either publicly funded or commercial – with responsibility for donor or client engagement. Experience or an interest in Black history is essential. You should be flexible, proactive and have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a sound problem solving approach to your work. Our team are working remotely. You will be able to use online video conferencing software, to access online documents and to build teams and camaraderie at a distance.
