Creative Conversations is a series of intimate discussions in the Arts Council Conference room on the second floor of the Sacred Heart Cultural Center on the third Thursday of each month. Artists and arts professionals get the chance to network and talk about hot topics that all creatives should have knowledge in. This is a great space to get your answers and learn all about what it takes to be a successful artist.

This conversation focuses on creating memorable Artist Bios and Artist Statements. Guests should plan to bring or send in (via email to [email protected]) or bring a copy of their bio and/or statement for feedback and discussion.

About the Speaker:

Heather Rene Dunaway is an Augusta, GA native who graduated from Augusta University’s Pamplin College of Arts in 2012. In her artistic path she finds inspiration from repeated patterns including those found in nature, printed fabrics, human behavior and genetics. She sees these patters reflected in her everyday life and outwards into the cosmos. In her most recent works, she has collapsed these notions utilizing predominately found or inherited materials, such as her grandparent’s fabrics and maps and family photographs alongside acrylic and ink painting, cyanotype and polaroid emulsion lifts. Her work has been displayed in the 600 Broad Gallery, 4P Studios, the City Gallery, Augusta & Co. Gallery, Westobou Gallery, and in 2023 was accepted into the ArtFields competition in Lake City, SC. Her most recent body of work is scheduled to be shown in a solo exhibition in the Creel Harrison Gallery in Augusta, GA.

As the Gallery Director and Outreach Specialist with the Greater Augusta Arts Council, Heather has reviewed countless Artist Biographies and Statements. She sees the benefit of getting feedback from arts professionals and contemporaries.
