Position Title: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Reports To: Westobou Board of Directors
Anticipated Start Date: August 1, 2023
Location: Downtown Augusta, Georgia

 

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Executive Director provides the artistic vision that inspires and sustains Westobou’s programs;
maintains high standards of program excellence, oversees sound and responsible fiscal planning; effectively
directs the administration of the organization, oversees and participates in fundraising initiatives, marketing
and promotion activities, community relationships and Board development, and is responsible for
developing, sustaining and retaining a top quality staff of full-time, seasonal professionals, interns and
volunteers. The Executive Director is expected to present and enhance Westobou’s leadership position in
the arts communities. Specific position requirements follow:

 

RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
• Work closely with the Board and staff to maximize contributed income revenues.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with foundation, government, corporate and
individual donors. Attract new sources of contributed revenue.
• Develop Westobou’s brand and maximize earned revenue potential.
• Develop and nurture a financially self-sufficient operating model comprised of ticket revenue,
artwork sales, donor support and other sources of support.

 

FINANCIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT
• Ensure strong budgeting and financial management.
• Work closely with the Board of Directors through its Committees to ensure strong and
appropriate governance and engagement.
• Works closely with Treasurer and staff to ensure that financial procedures are developed and
carried out correctly under polices established by the Board, that the budget is monitored
and that there is adequate cash flow.
• In conjunction with staff, plans overall marketing effort and ensures its timely execution.

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS and TRUSTEES OF THE ACADEMY
• Encourages and supports the Board of Directors to conduct long-term strategic planning for
the organization and participates fully in that process.
• Keeps Board and Trustees regularly informed of progress towards goals, success stories and
in general.
STAFF, VOLUNTEERS and STAKEHOLDERS
• Oversees staff, contract employees and volunteers.
• Continually recruits new volunteers, encourages a spirit of cooperation, enthusiasm, and a
vision for the future.
• Works to involve related artistic organizations, performers, creators, and businesses.

 

GRANTS, SPONSORSHIP AND GOVERNMENT
• Serves as chief development officer and ensures that all fundraising to businesses and
individuals is completed and coordinated effectively.
• Research, write and manage grants from local, regional and national funding organizations and
foundations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Curatorial guidance and decision making
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Direct, diplomatic and shares information easily
• Familiarity with Mac OS and Microsoft Office Suite and Fundraising CRMs. Must be open to
exploring and adopting innovative technologies.
• Familiarity with Adobe Suite or Canva
• Dynamic, motivated and inspiring leader
