About the Gallery:
The Steven F. Gately Gallery is a visual arts gallery located on the first floor of Francis Marion University’s charmingly renovated University Place building at 142 N. Dargan Street, Florence, South Carolina and an extension of Francis Marion University. The gallery’s mission is to provide the community with a venue to experience a wide range of culturally diverse regional, national, and international visual artwork from emerging and established artists.
The Gately Gallery serves as catalyst for downtown development in the City of Florence, SC. It acts as a meeting place for artists, art enthusiasts and a place to gather for private events while offering free admission to rotating exhibitions that are designed to inspire and engage the residents of the Pee Dee Region.
Proposal Submission
University Place Gallery is currently seeking proposals for the 2026 Exhibitions Calendar. The deadline is March 15, 2025.Submissions will be reviewed by the Exhibition Committee for five available calendar blocks. Individuals and Groups with accepted proposals will be contacted by June 15, 2025.
Instructions
Please submit your information below and include the following: CV, Bio, Artist Statement, Proposal including a portfolio of 10 artwork images in pdf reduced size format.
Artists may include a schedule of projected expenses, if applicable. PDF format is preferred for all documents.
Gallery Specs
Gately Gallery is a 3000+ square foot space with over 200 feet of wall exhibition space including 96 feet of movable partition walls. There is an additional 85 square foot front window bay that should be utilized for exhibition.
