GCA Hosts Georgia Department of Education STEAM Workshop for Teaching Artists
How can teaching artists connect more deeply with schools? What distinguishes STEAM schools and how do teaching artists fit in? Join us for a hands-on professional development workshop that explores arts integration and STEAM as they apply to teaching artists.
Led by Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) STEAM Program Specialist Sally Baker, this workshop will teach participants to consider how the arts connect to state standards, how to plan meaningful workshops and residencies, how to assess a program’s success, and how to help schools understand what teaching artists offer.
Following this workshop, participating teaching artists will be invited to take an assessment, and upon successful completion, will be granted a GCA STEAM-Ready Designation. The workshop will be hosted at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
