02 Dec Open Seats on the Public Art Advisory Panel
Open call for applications for the Public Art Advisory Panel! This volunteer role is open to Augustans who want to be the change and make art happen in Richmond County and Augusta’s River Region/CSRA.
What is the Public Art Advisory Panel?
The Public Art Advisory Panel is a group of 7 voting members (residents of Richmond County, GA) and Ex Officio non-voting members who are appointed by the Arts Council’s Vice President of Public Art to serve as advisors on public art projects, programs and initiatives in Augusta, GA and Augusta’s River Region/the CSRA.
The purpose of of the PAAP is to advise the Greater Augusta Arts Council and City of Augusta in respect to the administration of the public art policy on matters related to the acquisition, placement, and maintenance of public art. Their support is integral to achieving the City of Augusta’s goals in the Public Art Master Plan. The PAAP regularly juries public art submissions for open calls, advocates for public art, and develops projects that align with the Master Plan. Panelists identify spaces appropriate for installations, murals and sculptures and lay out protocols, requirements and permits for artists.
Members may include community leaders, professors/educators, historians, administrators, architects, curators, critics, and artists. A diverse panelist body helps to achieve a diverse network to aid in achieving goals. Traditionally, the panel seeks members from each of Augusta’s districts to ensure the whole of Augusta is considered for projects.
How do I qualify?
To qualify, nominees must reside within Augusta-Richmond County, agree to serve one two-year term (with the option for reappointment for an additional two-year term, but not exceeding two consecutive terms served in a 6 year period), attend monthly meetings (without missing 2 consecutive meetings baring good cause), and sign a conflict of interest/impartiality agreement.
Panelists must reside in Richmond County, Georgia.
Artists voices are highly valued when considering projects, especially when it comes to the logistics of producing art, artists perspectives, etc. While we do not exclude artists from serving on this panel, it is important to note that installation artists, muralists and sculptors would need to abstain from voting and jurying on projects they wish to apply to.
To be considered, forms must be submitted by Monday, December 8, 2025 by 11:59 p.m.
Selected applicants will be notified by Mid-December – Early January to begin their terms in February 2026. There are multiple seats opening in 2026 that need to be filled. Panelists must agree to sign an agreement that bars instances where conflicts of interest are at play.
