Summary
The Miller Theater, home of the Augusta Symphony, has an immediate opening for the Production Manager for the Miller Theater and the Augusta Symphony. The Miller Theater is a 1,300-seat historic theater originally built in 1939 and re-opened in 2018. The Miller Theater hosts 75-100 events each year including symphony performances, national touring concerts, comedy shows, family and theatrical touring productions, dance, and special events.
The Production Manager will be responsible for coordination of all technical preparation and performance aspects related to the facility. Acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients and rider requirements are met, and
facility rules, regulations, and policies are followed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Serves as the technical and production director for all Symphony events hosted throughout the CRSA.
• Responsible for daily operations of lighting, electrical, sound, props, audiovisual, technology throughout the
venue.
• Responsible for routine maintenance (preventative and repairs) of all production equipment, house
restoration, event set-ups and break downs (as pertaining to the production department), and other back of
house needs.
• Responsible for advancing shows with promoters and partners and acts as a liaison between the show and the
company.
• Participates in the event booking, planning, and execution cycle as an in-house resource on facility light, sound,
stage, video, technology systems as well as methods, and practices which may save the customer money or
improve the production value of their event.
• Informs clients and subcontractors on rigging points and methods for hanging sound, lighting, and audiovisual
equipment. Enforces safety compliance when allowing or enabling any equipment to be rigged in the venue.
• Studies technical riders, light plots, electrical requirements, and hanging plots as to the complexity and
feasibility of hanging a road show or local production in the facility. Also, provides solutions that work to the
benefit of the facility and the client.
• Works with the clients to determine the Stage Technician crews required for production work.
• Provides a written estimate based on the technical rider or information supplied via the client and current
contract rates. Maintains accurate staffing records and costs and works within each show budget.
• Recruits, trains, develops, and supervises in-house production staff / crews, building teams that enhance
service and deliver exceptional results for clients.
• Serves as the liaison for any third-party production staff / crews working to create strong relationships that
result in excellent service.
• Responsible for filling all production crew calls within event budget.
• In absence of comprehensive client information, develops light plots and sound system specifications to fit
needs of the event and for all in-house events.
• Demonstrates an ongoing awareness of safety issues and total commitment to safety for staff, vendors, guests,
and crews.
• Develops and implements safety policy and procedures for Stage Technicians.
• Provides written estimates to contractors for equipment rentals and facilitates production equipment rental to
event contractors.
• Provides final cost outs for production services rendered for settlement in a timely manner.

Miller Theater Production Manager
• Maintains accurate event history which includes any billed services, issues, or opportunities for future
improvement of production efficiency.
• Represents the venue in the community and to the industry.
• Knowledgeable about facility systems and maintenance thereof.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by and cross training in other functional areas of venue management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages subordinate crew leaders and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all production staff / crews. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Miller Theater’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with General Manager; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
• At least five years of experience in event and production management in a public assembly setting.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sound, lighting, video, IT in a public assembly setting.
• Experience working symphony performances, national touring concerts, comedy shows, family and theatrical
touring productions, dance and special events preferred.
• Experience with venue preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Experience with forklifts, lifts and working on roofs, catwalks etc.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred but not required.
• Rigging experience preferred but not required.

• CAD experience preferred

Hours will vary and will include nights and weekends as needed.
