Rooted250 Call For Artists

For America’s 250th, Rooted250 is building a powerful visual and live experience. Artists, performers, and students are invited to use skills to spotlight the stories, perspectives, and cultural traditions that shape the country we share.

Visual art or performance pieces inspired by:

  • Family history, ancestry, and roots
  • Culture, identity, and community
  • Experiences of home, belonging, or rebuilding
  • Stories from neighbors, friends, or local communities
  • Submitted works must focus on positive, uplifting, and respectful perspectives.

 

Submission Types

2D Works

  • Painting, drawing, printmaking, illustration, graphic design, photography, video stills, animation, mixed media, etc.
  • Max size: 20 in × 20 in

 

3D Pieces

  • Small sculpture or objects that can sit on a pedestal or table.
  • Max size: 10 in wide × 10 in deep
  • Height can be taller than 10 in

 

Performance

  • Spoken word, dance, music, movement, storytelling, or other live pieces.

  • Open to suggestions or contributions. Timing, space, and tech needs will be discussed.

  • February 16: Artists notified of selection or next steps
  • March 16–18: Artwork drop-off
  • March 25: One-night art show & event (Maxwell Theatre, Augusta, GA)
