01 Feb Savannah River Site Museum seeks Director
The Savannah River Site Museum, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is
looking for a qualified museum professional to serve as a full-time,
curator/director of a newly established small museum in Aiken, SC. The
position is for one year, but the Savannah River Site Museum may elect to
extend the contract based on available funding, and is contracted through
New South Associates, Inc.
Applicants should have a graduate degree or certificate in museum
studies/management, with an emphasis on museum administration/management
and at least two years of professional experience at a supervisory level.
This position will entail the day-to-day operation of the museum, grant
writing, exhibit installation, finance management, handling the museum’s
website and social media, public outreach and tours, and working with an
energetic board and docent group. The museum’s board and volunteer staff
will work with the applicant to grow the membership, establish educational
programming, and schedule board and steering committee meetings as needed.
The successful applicant will have a science background and a strong
understanding of STEM educational programs. Candidate must be able to climb
stairs and lift over 40 lbs. Estimated salary is between $37 and $42k.
