02 Dec The Art of Music – Call for Musicians and Visual Artists!
Thank you for your interest in showing your work in The Art of Music. This exhibition will feature local musician’s readily available works paired with visual artists new works (inspired by the music).
Artists of all genres have inspired one another since the beginning of time. Last year, the Arts Council hosted “The Art of Words, where local artists were paired with local writers, who then wrote new works inspired by the visual art. Through The Art Of Music, it is Arts Council’s mission, to create an exhibition of visual art, with qr links to paired songs of local musicians via Spotify. Once approved through our jury, musicians and artists will be matched, and over the course of 8 weeks, visual artists will create a new work inspired by the music.
The Art of Music will feature 10 musicians and 10 artists and will be on display in the Augusta & Co. Gallery, which is located in the back of the Augusta & Co. Store and visitor’s center at 1010 Broad Street. from March 26 – June 25, 2026. with a reception held on Friday, April 3, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Musicans are welcome to submit in the form below to perform a short set during the reception.
Application deadline is Friday, January 16, 2026 by 11:59 p.m. Selected participants will be notified by no later than January 23rd. There are no fees to participate or submit.

If you are both a musician and a visual artist, feel free to submit two forms! One for visual art, one for music.
Day of drop off for the exhibition hanging will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Augusta & Co. Gallery on the day of hanging – Thursday, March 26, 2026. No late or early drop offs will be accepted or hung in this exhibition.
The Augusta & Co. Gallery is managed by The Greater Augusta Arts Council in partnership with Destination Augusta as a visual arts space. Gallery Director Heather Dunaway acts as curator, creating unique exhibitions of local artworks. The goal being to support local artists by showcasing their artworks in a high traffic location for locals, city officials, and visitors alike to better understand the vibrant arts we have in Augusta’s River Region.
Submissions of music are limited to one per musician and should be already completed works that will be used to inspire a visual artist. Space is limited! Music can be in any genre, but must be family friendly (no use of vulgar language or imagery). Music MUST be found on Spotify, as this is where we will be linking the playlist during the show. Musician must be prepared to share their lyrics below for approval. For more information on our galleries, visit www.augustaarts.com/galleries.
Visual artist submissions should include samples of past work along with links to their websites/social media, etc. Selected visual artists will have 8 weeks to create a visual artwork inspired by their musical pairing. This can be any genre of artwork, as long as it is able to hang from the Walker Display System or rest on a 1’x1′ pedestal. No vulgar imagery will be allowed. Work must be family friendly, as this is a visitor’s center. Work must be dry and ready to hang on hang day (March 26, 2026)
The Arts Council will manage all of the labels and show information for display. Including created a feature Spotify playlist with all the music.
Artists and Musicians must reside in the following counties. Georgia: Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington and Wilkes in addition to the 5 counties in western South Carolina: Aiken, Edgefield, Allendale, Barnwell and McCormick.

To be considered for this showcase the following must be met:
1. Works must be family friendly. Works may not feature nudity, vulgarity or violence of any kind.
2. Works must be made by the Artist or Musician submitting.
3. Participants must live in Augusta’s River Region / the CSRA.
4. 2D Artworks no larger than 36 ” x 36″ or 3ft x 3ft. 3D must not be larger than 1’x1′. We have limited space available.
5. All 2D artworks must be hangable from a Walker System, which is a rod-rail system that utilizes 4″ wide, vertically adjustable French cleats on rods suspended from a rail system. Please visit our gallery page (www.augustaarts.com/galleries) for more info. 3D works must fit within a 1ft x 1ft space and weigh less than 50lbs.
6. All selected artworks must be finished, dry, presentable and ready to hang (from wire) by drop off. Please, no hole, claw or single ring hangers on frames. Works that are not compatible with the Walker System will not be hung in this showcase. All works must be labeled on the back with artist’s and artwork’s information.
7. Visual artists can list their works for sale, but must agree to the gallery’s commission is 60% / artist, 40% / gallery. Pricing provided should reflect this. There will also be a State Sales Tax of 8% added by the Arts Council for each sale. This commission helps to cover the cost of organizing, hosting and promoting the exhibition. Musicans have the option to also sell any merchandise/CDs/etc. as part of the show display but must be approved by the Arts Council and Augusta & Co. Store manager. Any musicians works sold are subject to the same commission rates as listed above.
8. Musicians and Artists must sign the City Gallery Contract. and should plan to submit a W9. The Arts Council files Artist W9s for one calendar year. Artists who have submitted a W9 for other exhibitions in 2025 do not need to resubmit unless their information has changed.
All gallery sales will be processed through Augusta & Co. Checks for all sales will be mailed to the address of each artist (provided on their W9), after the close of the show. This process can take up to 6 weeks, from the initial pay request to mail delivery.
Any sold works will be distributed to the buyers by the Augusta & Co. Staffl. Any unsold artworks will need to be picked up by the artist or a representative of the artist in the week following the close of the exhibition. All works will be need to be picked up from the gallery on or after June 25, 2026 between 10:00 am and 4:00 p.m. from Augusta & Co. Unless otherwise arranged with the Arts Council. Any works left behind, after a 60 day period, per our contract, will be considered abandoned and become property of the Arts Council.
Space is limited! Each artist will be able to submit up to ONE work per application to be featured. This application does not guarantee your work will be selected for this exhibition. Selections depend on the amount of wall space, submissions, and general feel for the show. We encourage all artists interested in showing to visit the Gallery.
