AUGUSTA – The A. R. Johnson Magnet String Quartet, made up of Joshua Oliver, Brianna Rivera, Taniaya Bailey and Lillian Klein will perform when the touring production, “Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Showdown” comes to the Imperial Theatre on Wednesday, March 8 at 7:30 pm.
The string quartet will join professional musicians on stage to lend local talent to this homage to one of the world’s most beloved pop groups of the ’70s. The string quartet will accompany the bands for the songs “Eleanor Rigby,” “A Day in the Life,” “Hello Goodbye,” “Hey Jude,” “Gimme Shelter” and “Ruby Tuesday.”
According to A.R. Johnson Magnet Orchestra Director, Ms. Amy Ellington, the producers of “Beatles vs. Stones” approached her inquiring about a talented ensemble of high school students who could hold their own with a rock band in front of an audience.
“The show commonly reaches out to local high school orchestras, making donations to their school music programs in exchange for student participation,” Ellington said.
“We are very excited to showcase our musical talent on a large-scale stage for all to enjoy. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the string musicians.”
The event will be held on Wednesday, March 8 at 7:30 pm at the Imperial Theatre located at 749 Broad Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901. Tickets are $25-$65 and may be purchased by phone at 706.722.8341, at the Theatre Box Office or online at
