10 Feb Comic Jam at the Augusta University Library
What’s a Comic Jam?
A comic jam is an event where creatives of all fields or those passionate about comic come together and create a finished comic within a set amount of time and adhere to a prechosen theme.
If you’re familiar with a game jam, it’s the same concept but for comics!
Specifics like “how much time” and “how much of a comic do I have to make” vary depending on the comic jam. For the AU library specific details, check out the Jam Details tab on the left!
Why is the library hosting a comic jam?
The Augusta University Library Comic Jam is in honour of the father of graphic novels, Will Eisner. It falls on his memorial week, the first of March. For more on who Will Eisner is, what’s he’s created, and why so important to comics and graphic novels, check out Will Eisner tab on the left.
But I’m not an artist-
That’s okay! A comic jam isn’t about making the perfect pieces of art. It’s an exercise in creativity and (in our case) a fun way to honour a man who was dedicated to graphic novels and comics being seen as a respected artistic medium.
Everyone can participate in the comic jam, and it’s encouraged to work in groups if you’re interested! Writers, editors, doodlers- You can even just use circles and squares for your comic if you want!
