New Work by Edward Rice
Opens at CANDL Fine Art on April 7, 2023

AUGUSTA, GA—CANDL Fine Art in collaboration with OTB
Fine Art present an exhibition of paintings by Edward Rice
April 7–May 12, 2023 with an opening reception on April 14,
6–8 P.M.

The exhibition features rarely seen figure paintings created by
Rice over the past decade. These works reflect the artist’s lifelong
interest in the history of the depiction of the human figure, drawing
on diverse references from ancient art, to 19th century folk art.
“They seem, in their solidity and simplicity, deeply American, while
their references are indebted to ancient cultic traditions.”
Eleanor Heartney, art critic and writer, New York, NY.
