Fan Art Exhibition Art of the Rings – The Art Towers at Le Chat Noir

Augusta, GA – The art show continues! Follow this fellowship of local artists and Lord of the Rings fans on their journey through middle-Augusta. Local artist and curator Heather René Dunaway is hosting a second iteration of last year’s wildly popular Art of the Rings, which is a Lord of the Rings fan art showcase. This exhibition will feature local artist’s works inspired by the Lord of the Rings universe created by renowned author J.R.R Tolkien. The artwork will be on display in the Le Chat Noir gallery located at 304 8th St. Augusta, GA 30901 from June 29 – August 2, 2024 with a free reception held on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. The reception will feature themed artwork, food and cocktails, colorful costumes and a free showing of the extended edition of the 2002 film The Lord of the Rings – The Two Towers in the Le Chat Noir Theatre. Costumes are strongly encouraged and welcome! This exhibition will bring together arts lovers and literary fans as the work of J.R.R. Tolkien comes to life through visual art!

The fellowship of artists includes the works of Ernest Anderson Jr., Aaron Bailey, Emma Bailey, Kenneth Benson, Theron Cartwright, Jeremy Cohen, A.C. Daniel, curator Heather René Dunaway, Laverne Goth, Tripp Gustin, Cynthia Maria Panzella, ERICA PASTECKI, Morgan Sanders and Taylor Weatherford.

The Art of the Rings – The Fellow Ship of the Art Show in 2023 saw more than 200 attendees during the reception, with more viewing and purchasing works prior to. As an artist and curator living and working in Augusta’s River Region, Heather René Dunaway sees a need to unite the arts community. By creating showcases that speak to fandoms, Dunaway is able to connect arts lovers and artists in fun new ways by highlighting shared interests. In the past, she has organized shows such as The Annual October Spooktacular a Halloween themed art showcase in multiple Augusta locations, Lucky 13 shown in Le Chat Noir, Anime On My Mind shown in the 600 Broad Gallery, Winter is Here As Is the Beer and Hive’s Moving Castle show in the Hive Growler Bar, and many more. Her partnership with Le Chat Noir has only facilitated the growth of these themed exhibitions.

Le Chat Noir opened its doors in 2006. As a performing arts theatre, they have produced over a hundred shows (most of which were Augusta premieres) and been host to over a thousand events. It has supported local artists and featured many visual art exhibitions over the years as well. Despite being one of the youngest performance arts groups in the CSRA, Le Chat Noir has established itself as a cultural pillar of the arts’ community.
