22 Apr Augusta Mini Theatre Presents the 3rd Annual Showcase of the Arts — The First Student Production in the New Judith Simon Butler Theatre!
Augusta, GA – Augusta Mini Theatre, founded by Tyrone J. Butler (October 8, 1975), is proud to announce the return of The Showcase of the Arts, its annual May production featuring students from each of the organization’s artistic disciplines: Drama, Visual Arts, Piano, and Modern Dance. This exciting production continues to grow each year and promises to be the most spectacular showcase yet.
This year’s performances mark a historic milestone for Augusta Mini Theatre. The Showcase of the Arts will be the first student production presented inside the brand‑new Judith Simon Butler Theatre, ($2.6M 142-seat Theater) located in the new Instructional & Performance Center. This state‑of‑the‑art facility represents a major step forward in Augusta Mini Theatre’s 50‑year legacy of nurturing creativity, confidence, and life skills in children and teens through the arts.
As part of its 50th Anniversary Celebration, Augusta Mini Theatre will also host a special Commemorative Event for the 1970 Augusta Riot, highlighting the story and legacy of Carrie Mays. This important community event will take place on:

- Free and open to the public
This commemorative gathering reflects Augusta Mini Theatre’s continued commitment to honoring local history, fostering dialogue, and preserving stories that shape the community.
Following two years of enthusiastic audiences and sold‑out performances, this year’s showcase promises an even more dynamic celebration of student talent and artistic expression. Audience members will experience an inspiring blend of theatre, music, visual art, and dance as students take the stage to share what they have learned throughout the school year.

- Friday, May 15, 2026 – 8:00 PM
- Saturday, May 16, 2026 – 3:00 PM
- Sunday, May 17, 2026 – 3:00 PM
General admission is $15 for ages 2 and up. (No infants, please.)
This show is a collaboration between Judith Simon Butler (Artistic Director/Drama Instructor), Jena Ja’whann (Dance Instructor), Ronesha Hill (Visual Arts Instructor), and Dr. Phyllis E. Johnson-Porter (Piano Instructor). It will feature about 100 students (Drama, Dance, Visual Arts, and Piano).
