Overtones is a solo exhibition of colorful works by local artist Sindhu Pillai in the Augusta & Co. Gallery! On view from January 2 – March 27, 2025 with a reception on First Friday, February 7th from 4-7:00 p.m.
One of the highlights of Overtones is Pillai’s breathtaking landscape paintings. Her use of bold, expressive colors brings natural scenes to life in a way that feels both dreamlike and deeply rooted in reality. From rolling hills bathed in golden light to tranquil waters reflecting a kaleidoscope of hues, each piece invites viewers to step into a world where nature’s beauty meets artistic vision. Her landscapes capture fleeting moments—sunset’s last glow, the whisper of a breeze through trees, the dance of light on water—transforming them into lasting, vibrant impressions.
Sindhu’s work plays with contrasts. Her paintings are where strength meets softness, movement meets stillness. Each of her paintings tells a unique story. Her style blends the familiar with the unexpected, making every piece feel like a new discovery.
Sindhu Pillai is interested in exploring the balance between fragility and strength, often expressed through moments of stillness and unexpected connections. Growing up in India and immigrating to the United States, Sindhu unfolds a part of her personal story in each painting, shaped by experiences that inform her unique perspective. Her juried works are featured in Augusta University’s Sand Hill Literary Magazine in 2024, the 29th Juried Show at the Belton Center for Arts, 2024, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society’s Luminous Landscapes 2024, and the Art League of Hilton Head Biennale 2023. She has also displayed her work at the Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Come hang out at the First Friday reception on February 7th to meet Sindhu, hear about her creative process, and enjoy a night filled with color, storytelling, and community. Overtones is more than just an art show. It’s an experience.
