ARTISTS MAKE ART THEIR BUSINESS WITH UNIQUE SHOW AT ANN & ELLIS JOHNSON GALLERY IN AUGUSTA

A special nine-day exhibit of new art by eight Augusta artists called Vital Connections will open on Thursday May 31, 6:00 – 8:00p.m. at the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, 739 Greene Street, Augusta, Georgia. The exhibition will be up until June 8th in the Ann and Ellis Johnson Gallery at the school. The association with each other and guest artists provided a vital connection that inspired their work to new creative levels. A reception with hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be held during the opening.

The exhibition is culmination of an 8 week course taught by Frieda Dean, at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art called The Business Of Being An Artist. A part of an ongoing series of courses to assist local artists succeed in showing and selling their art, the program is sponsored as a collaboration by The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, The Greater Augusta Arts Council, and The Jessye Norman School of the Arts.

The class is offered periodically and covers different topics such as artist statements, submitting work, prepping work, photographing work, marketing, and more. Local guest artists and community representatives share their real world experience and knowledge.
