11 Jun Arts in the Heart Brings in Major Performers for the 2024 Festival
With five performance stages, music is a dynamic component of Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival and that will be especially true this year. The Greater Augusta Arts Council is pleased to announce that thanks to a partnership with Destination Augusta, we will be featuring platinum selling Austin alt-rock band Fastball on the Global Stage on Saturday, September 21st and Jazz Sensation Georgia Muldrow on the Jazz Stage.
Fastball have a career highlighted by chart-topping successes of 90’s hits “The Way” and “Out Of My Head.” The band includes guitarist Miles Zuniga, guitarist/singer Tony Scalzo, and drummer Joey Shuffield. Spirited by new material the men of Fastball are looking forward to taking their upcoming album Sonic Ranch (out June 21st) – as well as plenty of the old favorites – out to fans who appreciate their quest to keep moving forward and creatively challenging themselves.
Jazz performer Georgia Anne Muldrow is an electronic musician, activist, vocalist/ songwriter and producer. Her “Overload” album was nominated for a 2020 Grammy and she’s collaborated with famed musicians including Robert Glasper, Adrian Younge, Ambrose Akinmursire, Justin Brown’s Nyeusi, and Keyon Harrold. Jyoti is a name bestowed upon her by the late great Alice Coltrane.
Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival is September 20 – 22 in downtown Augusta, Georgia and will be located on Telfair Street, encompassing a large footprint that includes part of Greene Street, Telfair Street, the Old Medical College, old Richmond Academy, Parade grounds, and the Municipal Building parking lot.
The festival will feature over 150 juried Fine Arts and Crafts artists this year, with artists coming from all over the United States. Five stages of non-stop entertainment include everything from hip hop to jazz to rock. This year we’re very excited to be featuring Augusta as a Music City.
The global food village is famous for its authentic taste of global cuisine and will tempt food lovers with 20 authentic cuisine booths including China, Cyprus, Greece, Germany, India, Ireland, France, Italy, Laos, Samoa, South Sudan, Sudan, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Lebanon, Trinidad, Philippines, Latin America and Jamaica.
The large Family Area is packed with interactive children’s activities, street performers, public art, and a Young Artists Market. This year the Family Stage is pleased to feature acclaimed Atlanta puppeteer Lee ‘That Puppet Guy’ Bryan.
Artzilla returns with local artists painting live all weekend. The Authors Lounge will feature Georgia authors and book signings, including national bestselling Author Karin Gillespie. Limited edition 2024 Festival Merchandise will also be available, including a new 2024 collectible Arts in the Heart Festival Teddy Bear. Fair warning – last year we sold out of everything quickly.
Advanced $15 Festival badges will be available online in July. Check the Festival website and social media for updates. Children 10 and under are free. Admission is good for the entire weekend. Badges at the gate are $20. Pets and coolers are not allowed in the Festival. Lawn chairs are welcomed. Arts in the Heart of Augusta is a rain or shine event.
