“Ours” Mural Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – October 29, 2025

Community Mural “Ours” Unveiled in Downtown Augusta

Augusta, GA — A new mural titled “Ours” now brightens Downtown Augusta at 8th and Broad Street, celebrating both the city’s spirit and the power of collective creativity. Designed by local artist Baruti Tucker and painted by more than 100 arts lovers, this artwork highlights much of what residents and visitors cherish about Augusta while standing as a symbol of community pride.

The mural was brought to life through Promenade & Paint | Augusta’s Public Art, an Authentic Augusta experience developed by the Greater Augusta Arts Council in partnership with Destination Augusta. This immersive journey invites participants to explore Augusta while learning about our vibrant public art works as part of a curated, guided tour led by Michael Wolff of Augusta Adventures, then guests roll up their sleeves in a hands-on mural workshop with Baruti Tucker in his studio at the TreeHouse Juice Joint and Art Gallery(formerly Humanitree House).

Having more than 100 artists participate in the painting of “Ours,” has created a work of art that acts as a living testament to community collaboration and a reminder of what can be accomplished when we come together. Each brushstroke, or “Ahfingah” method as Tucker calls his literal hands-on approach, represents the heart, talent, and pride of those who helped create it.

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for “Ours” will take place on Wednesday, October 29th at 10:30 a.m. at 802 Broad Street, Augusta, GA 30901. Guest speakers will include Heather Dunaway, Gallery & Public Art Director of the Greater Augusta Arts Council; Leon Maben, Public Art Advisory Panel President; Jordan Johnson, Augusta District 1 Commissioner; Baruti Tucker, artist; Michael Wolff, experience tour guide; as well as Jennifer Bowen, Chief Strategy Office and Senior VP of Destination Augusta. Guests will be invited to juice at the Treehouse following the ceremony, where they can find coupons to use for the next Promenade & Paint experience.

‘Ours’ is a great representation of what it is to be an Augustan” said Gallery & Public Art Director Heather Dunaway. “The Promenade & Paint experience allows visiting and local arts lovers to learn about how vibrant this city is and help add to it themselves. It’s amazing.”

Promenade & Paint continues to offer locals and visitors the chance to experience Augusta’s art scene in a way like no other, part tour, part art class, and fully immersive.
