Part of my role as an intern with the Augusta Arts Council is to assist with the planning and coordination of the Chalk Art Competition, which we are hosting in partnership with the Department of Art and Design at Augusta University during the Arts in the Heart Festival. The Chalk Art Competition will be open to artists of all ages and experience levels, and both individuals and groups are welcome to participate.

We are really looking forward to seeing all of the colorful artwork that will come to life at the Fairgrounds! If you’re reading this and find yourself thinking about participating, registration for the Chalk Art Competition will open on Friday, September 18, from 5:00–9:00 p.m. The registration fee is only $10, which will help fund the chalk and prize pool for the event.

The competition will begin on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Sign-ups, check-in, and payment will take place at the Augusta University booth in the Family Area. Spaces are limited, and registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
