Meet Kennedy Harris: Our Young Emerging Artist for December!

When Kennedy Harris was asked what inspires her, she shared:
“I find my passion for creativity through my life encounters and based on what I’m going through. My past experiences challenge me to focus creatively, which in turn causes me to relentlessly pursue my passions. I keep myself going by being reminded that no one has the ability to recreate my originality. Performing in different artistic focuses is a calming and reassuring method for me because it allows me to let go of the ideas that I have lingering in my mind and put it on my own personal canvas. Performing is a privilege to me, and I will gladly accept the honor wholeheartedly.”

Kennedy is a junior at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, where she excels in a variety of artistic disciplines, including the Improv Troupe, Music, and Costume Design, while maintaining a strong academic record. Her artistry is most evident in her role with the Davidson Chorale, the school’s premier high school choir, and as a Level Three Costume Designer, where her attention to detail and creative spirit shine.

Outside of Davidson, Kennedy has dedicated the last six years to training exclusively at A Creative Symphoni Dance Studio, where she is currently serving as Head Captain during this season. Dance is not just an art form for Kennedy it’s her happy place, a source of grounding and joy in her life.

Kennedy’s leadership goes beyond the stage and studio. She is an active member of the Georgia School Boards Association Youth Advisory Council, where she contributes to educational policy-making and advocates for her peers. Her platform focuses on Mental Health and Invisible Disabilities, bringing awareness and support to issues that deeply impact students.

As the middle child in a high-achieving family, Kennedy is surrounded by inspiration. Her older sister is studying Engineering at North Carolina A&T, and her younger brother also attends Davidson Fine Arts. Though Kennedy has yet to decide which college she will attend, one thing is certain: her future will be filled with creativity, advocacy, and innovation.

Teachers praise Kennedy for her unmatched work ethic and her relentless drive to improve. Her peers describe her as a supportive and inspiring friend who cares deeply for those around her. Her friend Sameera is quoted saying:

“Kennedy is inspiring because, even when misunderstood, she never lets it dim her light. She continues to shine and be the amazing person she is.”

This December, we celebrate Kennedy Harris for her artistry, leadership, and resilience. She is a true testament to the power of creativity and perseverance. Find Kennedy on Instagram here!
